  • All of the school levies considered by voters in Whitman County for this week’s special election are receiving approval. The levies in Lamont, Palouse, Garfield, and Colton School Districts are confirmed to pass based on Tuesday’s vote-by-mail election. Meanwhile, the Rosalia Parks and Recreation District levy has not met the required threshold for approval.

  • Government offices will be closed on Monday for Presidents’ Day. Mail services will not operate on that day. Pullman Transit will provide a reduced bus route service, while bus services will not be available in Moscow. Trash collection will occur as scheduled. The University of Idaho will not hold classes on Monday.

  • Palouse Pathways is hosting a college exploration course on Sunday designed to assist community members in discovering educational options, understanding financial aid, and learning about available resources and tools for their search. The session will take place from 2-4 pm on Sunday, February 16 at the Fiske Room in the 1912 Center.

  • Joann Fabrics in Moscow is set to close as part of a broader plan affecting several stores across the country. Reports indicate that these closures are related to the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Joann Fabrics intends to close approximately 500 of its 800 locations, including the Clarkston store.
