A 51-year-old man from Moscow has been sentenced to prison for a kidnapping incident involving his ex-girlfriend. Michael Dahl received a sentence of up to 10 years from Judge Megan Marshall in Latah County Second District Court, with eligibility for parole after two years.

In May, Dahl pleaded guilty to felony 2nd degree kidnapping following his arrest in March. Authorities responded to a call about a woman screaming from inside a storage unit at an apartment complex on 3rd Street. Upon arrival, officers found the unit’s door secured with screws and had to forcibly open it to rescue the woman, who had been locked inside for approximately an hour while doing laundry. Reports indicate that Dahl threatened her safety during the incident.

After the event, Dahl left the scene and was later apprehended at his residence.
