The Idaho Transportation Department is informing drivers about an increase in speed patrols conducted by law enforcement agencies across the state from July 20 to 26. This initiative is part of a larger regional campaign involving neighboring states, including Washington, Oregon, Montana, and Alaska.

During this period, drivers can expect a heightened law enforcement presence on the roads.

“Speed limits are established for safety reasons,” stated Josephine Middleton, ITD Highway Safety Manager. “Adhering to these limits allows for better reaction time and may reduce the severity of accidents.”

As of now, there have been 126 fatalities on Idaho roads this year, a slight increase from 113 at the same point last year. Additionally, during the “100 Deadliest Days” from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Idaho has recorded 49 fatalities in 2025, compared to 40 during the same timeframe in 2024.
