Tuesday marks the election day for the Pullman primary, featuring a total of 22 candidates vying for positions on the Pullman City Council and School Board.
In the city council Ward 1 primary, the candidates include Bobbi Bennett-Wolcott, John-Mark Mahnkey, Cindy Kothandaraman, James Pitzer, Holly Greystone, Randy Cross, and Bryan MacDonald. The Ward 3 city council primary has candidates Karl Olsen, Frederico Bartolo III, John Casselman, Collin Bannister, Dave Gibney, V. Shae Ortega, and Tawny Szumlas. For the Pullman School Board Trustee position, incumbent Amanda Tanner is up against challengers Brandon Kruger, Teena Edwards, and Stephanie Horn, while the open school board seat features candidates Deena Bayoumi, Hannah Martian, and Ben Emerson.
In Whitman County, the primary for county commissioner District 3 includes three Republican candidates: recently appointed Commissioner Chad Whetzel, Tucker Senter, and Cody Finch. Additionally, there is a primary for the Tekoa City Council.
The top two candidates from each primary will move on to the general election scheduled for November.
Voters will also see a levy for the Lamont School District on the ballot, and residents of Farmington will have the opportunity to vote on a street levy.
All ballots must be returned to the auditor’s office postmarked by election day, Tuesday, August 5th, or dropped off in ballot boxes located in Pullman and Colfax by 8:00 p.m. on that same day.
