The Whitman County Auditor’s Office reported the counting of approximately 1,500 ballots from the recent primary election.

In the race for the open Pullman City Council Ward 3 seat, John Casselman holds a lead over Karl Olsen, which has decreased from 34 votes on election night to 28 votes. The candidate who secures the most votes will face Tawny Szumlas in November.

For the Whitman County Commissioner position, Republican Cody Finch’s lead over fellow Republican Tucker Senter has increased, now standing at 91 votes, up from a 38-vote lead on election night. The winner will compete against appointed Republican County Commissioner Chad Whetzel in the November election.

The Farmington Street levy is currently not passing by a narrow margin.

The auditor’s office plans to finalize the counting of the remaining ballots on election certification day, August 19th. Voter turnout is reported to be around 28%, with nearly 5,500 ballots counted.
