Firefighters in Whitman County are actively responding to a wildfire that has burned approximately 600 acres near Dusty, Washington, west of Colfax.

The fire ignited around 12:30 PM after a motorhome caught fire on state route 127, leading to its rapid spread.

Currently, a Level 3 evacuation order is in effect for residents along state route 127 between milepost 13 and 13.5, urging them to evacuate immediately.

Additionally, Whitman County Emergency Management has issued a Level 2 “Be Ready” evacuation notice for the areas of Central Ferry, Highway 26 from Dusty to Wilcox, and south to Almota.

In response to the wildfire, the Washington State Department of Transportation has closed Highway 127 between milepost 10 and milepost 23.
