A timber fire is currently being addressed in North Latah County. The fire, known as the White Pine Fire, was first detected at approximately 5:30 PM on Sunday. It is located east of the Giant White Pine Campground along State Highway 6 and covers an area of about five acres. Firefighting efforts include the use of a helicopter, which is sourcing water from a pond at Camp Grizzly.
