Former Washington State Representative Don Cox of Colfax has passed away at the age of 85. He died on Sunday at his home in Colfax. Cox served as the Superintendent of the Colfax School District during the 1990s before winning a significant state house race in the 9th Legislative District in 1999, which granted the Republicans a one-seat majority in the Washington State House of Representatives. He represented the district for seven years and returned to serve again in 2009. Additionally, Cox had a brief tenure as a Port of Whitman County Commissioner.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church in Colfax, as well as to Child Evangelism and Gideons International. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Colfax, with Corbeill Funeral Homes providing care for the family.
