The US Department of Education has awarded WSU TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) programs a grant of $8.2 million to sustain their operations for an additional five years.

These programs offer academic support, tutoring, career development, and mentorship to students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities, assisting over 800 students each year.

Ali Bretthauer, director of college success programs at WSU’s Office of Academic Engagement, commented on the renewed funding, stating that it will enable WSU to continue implementing effective practices that support student persistence and graduation, facilitating their transition into careers.
