Author and WSU alumna Aleah Johnson will be signing copies of her memoir titled “Caffeine, Nicotine, and a Dream: An Audacious Memoir” at two events during National Recovery Month on Saturday, September 13. The first event will take place at the Whitman Recovery Community Center in Pullman from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, and the second will be at the Recovery Festival in Moscow’s East City Park from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The Pullman event, located at 226 E. Main St., will include book sales, complimentary beverages, giveaways, and tours of the recovery community center. The Moscow festival, which is sponsored by Latah Recovery Community and Whitman Recovery Community Center, will celebrate a decade of service in the Palouse region.
Johnson, who graduated from WSU in 2008, embarked on her sobriety journey on May 16, 2012, and received support through Alcoholics Anonymous. She transitioned from a career in event designing to the behavioral health sector, eventually becoming vice president of her organization in 2020.
Her memoir details her experiences with addiction and recovery, highlighting her journey toward leadership in the behavioral health field and aiming to inspire and support others facing similar challenges.
