The strike that impacted the repaving of U.S. Highway 195 near Pullman has concluded.

The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 initiated a strike on August 12th, which resulted in the suspension of various highway construction projects in Eastern Washington. Among these was a $3.5 million project aimed at repaving 9 miles of US195, stretching from State Route 27 south of Pullman to Babbitt Road north of the town. Prior to the strike, crews had already commenced work on the project for one week. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) contracted Poe Asphalt for this work. Originally, the project was planned for completion in August and September, but WSDOT has indicated that it may extend into next spring, as asphalt plants in the area typically close for the winter by October 1st.
