A 43-year-old man from Oakesdale died in a semi-truck accident in the Clearwater County backcountry early Monday morning.
According to Idaho State Police, the accident took place around 2:00 AM on Floodwood Road, north of Elk River. Law enforcement officials reported that the man was operating the semi-truck on Freezeout Road, east of Trapper Peak, when the incident occurred. It was stated that the vehicle was traveling near the edge of the road, which subsequently gave way, causing the semi to roll approximately 120 feet down a steep embankment and collide with trees. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene and was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The identities of those involved in the crash have not been released by the Idaho State Police.
