The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced a change in fishing regulations regarding adult wild chinook salmon in the Lower Snake River. Starting Friday, only clipped hatchery fish will be permitted to be kept by anglers. This decision is aimed at supporting the chinook salmon run, which is experiencing delays attributed to warm water conditions. The restriction on retaining wild chinook will remain in effect at least until October 15th for areas downstream from Clarkston, while similar regulations for the stretch of the Snake River above Clarkston will last through at least next month. Anglers are still allowed to keep clipped hatchery chinook.
