The White Pine Fire in North Latah County remains at 10% containment, a level reached over a week ago. According to the U.S. Forest Service, crews are making notable progress in their efforts to manage the fire. Federal officials anticipate that containment levels will improve in the coming days. The fire has not expanded in size for several days and continues to cover an area of 1,045 acres. Currently, the U.S. Forest Service is expending approximately $1.5 million daily on firefighting efforts, bringing the total cost to $10.5 million since the fire began last month. The cause of the fire is still undetermined, and nearly 500 personnel are assigned to address the situation. The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest within the fire area remains closed.
