The U.S. Forest Service has provided an update on the White Pine fire in North Latah County, reporting that the fire remains at 1,045 acres and is currently 10% contained. The fire, which began last month, has an unknown cause. To date, over 11 million dollars have been spent on firefighting efforts. The number of personnel assigned to combat the fire has decreased to 389. Additionally, the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest is closed within the fire zone, which is located north of Harvard, east of State Highway 6, near the Giant White Pine Campground.
