The status of the White Pine Fire in North Latah County remains unchanged after several weeks of burning. Currently, the fire is 10% contained, covering an area of 1,045 acres. The number of personnel engaged in firefighting efforts has decreased, with approximately 350 firefighters actively working on the lines, down by about 30 since Thursday. Additionally, the daily expenditure for combating the fire is also on a decline, with nearly 12 million dollars spent by the U.S. Forest Service to date.
The fire began last month and is located north of Harvard and east of State Highway 6, near the Giant White Pine Campground. The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest within the fire zone remains closed.
