The Social and Economic Sciences Research Center (SESRC) at Washington State University is marking its 55th anniversary on Tuesday, September 24. The celebration will feature a keynote address by Robert L. Santos, former director of the U.S. Census Bureau, who will discuss his journey in statistics and research titled “Pursuing Excellence: A Rocky, Twisty Journey of Discovery in Statistics and Research.” This address is scheduled for 3:00-4:30 pm at the Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center in Pullman, followed by a reception from 4:30 – 5:30 pm.

Established in 1970, SESRC has grown to be the largest university-based survey research center in the Pacific Northwest. Its contributions have played a role in public policy and survey science, including the development of the “Total Design Method” by Don Dillman in 1978.

The anniversary events will also feature an open house at the SESRC Data Collection Unit from 1:00 – 2:30 pm at WSU Research Park.

All events are free and open to the public. Further details can be found on the SESRC 55th Anniversary website.
