A building on the Washington State University Spokane campus will be renamed in recognition of former university President Kirk Schulz.

The WSU Regents voted unanimously on Friday to rename the Spokane Health Sciences Campus facility the Kirk Schulz Academic Center. According to a post on the WSU website, many members of the campus community expressed support for the renaming through letters. The proposal was submitted by former Regents Chair Lisa Keohokalole Schauer.

Schulz announced his retirement in April of last year.
