An inmate at the Latah County Sheriff’s Office Jail in Moscow has passed away after being found unresponsive in their cell.

The sheriff’s office released a statement on Wednesday detailing the medical incident that occurred last week. The inmate was discovered unresponsive on Tuesday of the previous week, prompting deputies to initiate life-saving measures while Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene. The inmate was subsequently transported to a hospital, where they remained in critical condition for several days before dying after their next of kin requested the discontinuation of life support.

In respect for the inmate and their family, the Latah County Sheriff’s Office has stated that no further information regarding the death will be disclosed.

The Idaho State Police are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
