A local attorney has been appointed as the Nez Perce County Magistrate Judge in Lewiston.

Kelley Porter of Genesee has been appointed to the court by the Idaho Second District Magistrate Commission. Porter takes over from Magistrate Judge Sunil Ramalingam, who was appointed to the same position in Moscow. Ramalingam succeeded Magistrate Judge Megan Marshall, who was appointed to a position in the Latah County Second District Court after the retirement of Judge John Judge in January.

Porter has previous experience as the Staff Attorney for Nez Perce County District Court in Lewiston and is also an instructor at the University of Idaho, where she teaches law. She earned her law degree from the University of Idaho.
