Drivers will have the opportunity to travel the full six miles of the newly expanded four-lane section of US Highway 95 from Reisenauer Hill to Moscow starting Sunday, October 12. This opening follows the completion of work at the Thorn Creek Bridge, which was necessary for full access to the route.
The first five miles of the highway were opened to traffic in early July, but the remaining section was delayed pending the bridge’s completion.
Some construction activities will continue over the next few weeks as crews work on installing permanent barriers, signage, delineators, and rumble strips.
The nearly $90 million realignment project, which commenced in 2022, involved shifting the existing two-lane highway eastward and expanding it to four lanes. This design includes a flatter grade, fewer curves, and improved access control. The six-mile segment represents the final phase of a project initiated by the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) in 1999 aimed at expanding the entire corridor from Lewiston Hill to Moscow.
