Enrollment at the University of Idaho has increased for the fifth consecutive year, as reported by the university on Friday based on a mid-semester headcount. This fall, the total number of students in the UI system is 12,383, reflecting an increase of nearly 1% compared to the previous year. The undergraduate population at UI has reached its highest level, attributed to an improved retention rate. Additionally, this year’s freshman class is the second largest in the university’s history, slightly below last year’s record numbers. Notably, the traditional college student population, which does not include high school students enrolled in dual credit programs, has risen by nearly 3%. However, the Moscow campus has experienced a slight decline, with a total of 10,511 students, a decrease of 75 from the fall of 2024. Overall, this marks the ninth consecutive semester of enrollment growth at the University of Idaho, contrasting with broader national trends in higher education.
