The Pullman School Board is evaluating the possibility of acquiring an additional 30 acres of land on Sunnyside Hill for potential future school development. This consideration follows the board’s purchase of 60 acres at the end of Crestview Street in 2021, intended for future district requirements.

During the upcoming trustee meeting on Wednesday night, the board plans to discuss this potential purchase from the same owners, the Quist Family and Harms Place LLC. If the acquisition moves forward, the Pullman School District would own a total of 90 acres of undeveloped farmland that could be utilized for future school facilities, as district enrollment is projected to increase.

The additional land is noted to provide direct access from Crestview and improved connections to necessary utilities. The proposed price for the new land is set at $20,000 per acre, amounting to $600,000 in total; however, details regarding the funding source for this purchase have not been disclosed.

In comparison, the district acquired the adjacent 60 acres in 2021 for $30,000 per acre, resulting in an expenditure of $1.8 million, funded by surplus resources from the construction of Kamiak Elementary School on Military Hill.

The Pullman School Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday night at 6:30 PM, to be held inside the high school.
