Marlynn Markley, former Judicial Services Director for the Whitman County District Court, has received a prestigious statewide recognition. She was named the Court Manager of the Year for Washington State by the Washington Court Management Council. This award honors court managers who contribute to the enhancement of judicial administration and improve public access to justice. Markley’s nomination for this award was supported by District Court Judge John Hart.

After a distinguished career spanning 45 years in the Whitman County District Court, including 41 years as the court director, Markley has officially retired. She was part of the original staff and served under all four judges of the court, making her one of the longest-serving employees in Washington’s judicial system.

Judge Hart commented on Markley’s career, stating that the award is a fitting tribute to her dedication to ensuring access to justice for the public. He highlighted her significant contributions, collaboration, and leadership roles throughout her time with the court, emphasizing the profound impact she has made on many lives.

Following Markley’s retirement, Melisse Stiglich has been appointed as the new District Court Judicial Services Director. Stiglich previously worked as the Justice Court Administrator for the City of Sandy, Utah, for seven years. She began training under Markley in August and has now assumed her new role.
