The criminal case concerning a stabbing incident in Pullman has been dropped due to self-defense considerations.
Pullman Police had recommended felony assault charges against a 19-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a 34-year-old local resident in the abdomen with scissors during a dispute over a cat. The victim received treatment at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. The altercation took place at an abandoned seed plant north of the Mobil gas station on North Grand Avenue. The suspect claimed to have acted in self-defense. Whitman County Prosecutor Denis Tracy decided to drop the case, stating that he could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the suspect was not acting in self-defense.
