A group of workers at Washington State University has initiated a petition to unionize. The Union of American Physicians and Dentists has announced that a dozen physicians and advanced practice clinicians at WSU are seeking representation by the union. These workers provide healthcare services to nearly 30,000 WSU students. The petition has been submitted to the Washington State Public Employment Relations Commission, which is expected to make a decision within six to eight weeks. Additionally, the WSU student workers union previously went on strike for a short period last year after achieving union status in 2022.
