Next week marks the beginning of candidate filing for various local seats up for election in Washington this year.
The Pullman School Board will see seats currently held by Chair Nathan Roberts and Amanda Tanner contested this fall. Additionally, three Pullman City Council seats will be on the ballot, currently occupied by Trymaine Gaither, Carla De Lira, and Megan Guido. The Pullman Regional Hospital board positions held by Joe Pitzer, Shane McFarland, Suzzana Nofsinger, and Michael Cady are also up for election. The Commissioner seat for the Pullman area volunteer fire department, held by Roger Mckeirnan with Whitman County Fire District 12, is included in this cycle.
Countywide elections this year will focus on the Whitman County Commissioner seat held by Chad Whetzel and the Port of Whitman County post held by Karl Webber.
Mayoral positions in several towns, including Farmington, Garfield, LaCrosse, Malden, Oakesdale, Rosalia, and Uniontown, will be available for voting.

– Colton: School Board, Council, and Fire District
– Endicott: School Board, Council, Fire District, Parks, and Cemetery District
– Rosalia: School Board, Council, Mayor, Fire District, and Parks
– St. John: School Board, Council, Fire District, Parks, and Cemetery
– Oakesdale: School Board, Council, Mayor, Fire District, Parks, and Cemetery
– Farmington: Council, Mayor, and Cemetery
– Albion: Council and Fire District
– Malden: Council and Mayor
– Uniontown: Council, Mayor, and Fire District

Candidate filing will begin on Monday and run through Friday next week at the Whitman County Auditor’s Office in Colfax. Candidates may also file online at the Whitman County website. If more than three candidates register for a seat, they will participate in a primary election in August.
