During a board meeting on May 2, the Idaho State Board of Education approved a 3.5% increase in tuition and fees for the upcoming academic year at each of Idaho’s four-year institutions.

School leaders presented the request citing inflationary costs, operational pressures, and the need to accommodate mandated cost-of-living increases for employees.

Board President Kurt Liebich noted that the institutions maintain relatively low tuition rates compared to national averages. He acknowledged the impact of inflation and stated that the increase is necessary for the sustainability of the institutions.

As a result of this increase, undergraduate in-state tuition at the University of Idaho will rise from $9,084 to $9,400.
