There will be an August primary for this year’s Whitman County Commissioner race.

Tucker Senter from the Palouse area has filed for the seat currently held by recently appointed Commissioner Chad Whetzel. Whetzel has also filed his candidacy, along with Cody Finch from Pullman. The candidates will compete in the August primary, with the top two vote-getters advancing to the general election.

Additionally, there is a contested race for a Pullman City Council seat. DiDi Lubash and Andie Lee Freeman have filed for the seat held by Carla De Lira. V. Shae Ortega has also filed for the Pullman City Council position currently occupied by Megan Guido.

There are numerous seats up for election this year in Whitman County that still require candidates. Candidate filing with the Whitman County Auditor’s Office will continue through Friday.
