FEMA is requesting input from residents regarding the Proposed Flood Hazard Determinations for Whitman County, which are outlined in the preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Map and the Flood Insurance Study report.
These flood hazard determinations are essential for informing floodplain management measures that the county may adopt in order to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program.
Public comments on the flood map will be accepted until August 20. However, the City of Pullman asks that any objections be submitted by August 13 to allow staff to compile these concerns before the final deadline.
City staff will gather comments and data related to the proposed hazard determinations and forward them to FEMA for consideration.
Questions, comments, and appeals can be directed to Floodplain Administrator Nicole Morton at [email protected]. For additional information on the preliminary flood maps, please visit the relevant webpage.
