The City of Pullman is set to receive $113,000 from Chevron for the cleanup of contaminated soil discovered during the downtown reconstruction project. Crews found more contaminated soil than anticipated at the former Chevron gas station site, which is now the Conoco station located at the intersection of Main and Paradise Streets. The city incurred additional expenses of $113,000 for the removal of the contaminated soil, which involved excavating and transporting over 526 tons of material. The Chevron Environmental Management Company has reached an agreement with the city to cover these cleanup costs, and Pullman City Councilmembers are expected to approve the settlement during their meeting on Tuesday night.
