Eight attorneys have submitted applications for the Latah County Magistrate Judge position in Moscow, which became available in May following the appointment of former Magistrate Judge Megan Marshall to the upper Latah County 2nd District Court felony bench by Governor Brad Little. This vacancy arose after the retirement of former Judge John Judge in January.
The candidates include Moscow City Prosecutor Reed Brevig, Benewah County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Aaron Freudenthal from St. Maries, attorney Sandra Lockett from Moscow, Lewis County Prosecutor Zach Pall from Nezperce, Nez Perce County Senior Judicial Staff Attorney Kelley Porter from Lewiston, Nez Perce County Magistrate Judge Sunil Ramalingam from Lewiston, Idaho Public Defender’s Office trial attorney Donald Terry from Sandpoint, and attorney Erin Tomlin from Moscow.
The Idaho State Supreme Court has opened a public comment period to collect feedback on the applicants, which will remain open until July 7th. The Idaho Magistrate Commission of the 2nd Judicial District will conduct interviews with selected finalists on July 21st before making the final appointment.
