A 45-year-old man from Pullman has been convicted by a jury in connection with a case of tire slashing. On Tuesday, a Whitman County Superior Court Jury found Benjamin Rinehart guilty of felony vandalism, specifically 2nd degree malicious mischief.
Rinehart was arrested in January after he was identified on surveillance footage slashing the tires of a vehicle in the Spaulding Street area. This incident occurred after the vehicle’s owner had previously installed the camera to monitor her vehicle following an earlier tire slashing incident.
Authorities believe Rinehart may be responsible for slashing numerous other tires on College Hill during the winter months. He is scheduled for sentencing on Friday.
