The University of Idaho has received the 2025 School of the Year award from the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH), which is recognized as the largest student-run nonprofit organization globally.

This award highlights the achievements of the university’s Residence Hall Association (RHA), which has been recognized as the leading residence hall organization among more than 400 institutions.

The RHA was noted for its initiative to revamp its traditional representative system by creating smaller, more effective housing area teams. This strategy has aimed to enhance student engagement and foster accountability among peers on campus.

Additionally, the RHA has launched over 30 student-led programs designed to promote community building within the university.

RHA President Isabelle Higgins stated, “Being named School of the Year reflects the dedication and effort of our RHA members. We have strived to create a supportive community, and I am proud of our collective achievements.”

The NACURH also acknowledged individual members of the University of Idaho’s RHA and its professional staff, with Claire Gorham, the resident director for north campus communities, being honored as the National Professional Staff Member of the Year. Furthermore, Isabelle Higgins was recognized as a top 10 presenter for her insights on the importance of recognition in student leadership roles.
