Acting City of Pullman Administrator Megan Vining has declined the offer to continue in her role on an interim basis. Finance Director Jeff Elbracht has been appointed as Interim City Administrator, effective Monday. According to a press release from city spokeswoman Meghan Ferrin, Vining has chosen to return to her position as city recreation manager in anticipation of the upcoming summer season.

The city is currently in a transitional period following the departure of Mike Urban as City Administrator. Urban was placed on paid administrative leave by Mayor Francis Benjamin for three weeks in late March due to allegations that were later disproven by a third-party investigator. The city had initially welcomed Urban back to work and publicly stated on April 17th that he had been exonerated. However, Urban’s attempts to negotiate his return and restore his reputation were unsuccessful. The city has since stated that Urban resigned, a claim that Urban’s attorney disputes, asserting that he was wrongfully terminated.

The City of Pullman is actively searching for a new permanent administrator.
