Pullman Police Commander Ruben Harris has been permanently promoted to his position.
Harris initially took on the role of acting commander in March following the events surrounding former Police Chief Jake Opgenorth, who was placed on paid administrative leave in December due to allegations of misconduct. Opgenorth eventually resigned, leading to Commander Aaron Breshears being appointed as acting chief. In May, Breshears was confirmed as the permanent chief.
On Tuesday, Harris will be officially sworn in as the permanent Pullman Police Commander. Additionally, Acting Sergeant Brock Westerman will also be sworn in permanently on the same day. Westerman stepped into the acting sergeant role when Harris was appointed as acting commander.
