The Save the Gladish fundraising campaign will officially kick off this weekend in Pullman. Funds raised will be allocated for the preservation of the historic Gladish Community and Cultural Center. The kickoff event is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday at the Gladish, featuring live music and guided tours.

The Knuckle Skrape’Rs Annual Hot Rod Gathering will take place in Palouse on Saturday. The car show is scheduled from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and is free to attend.

Classic rock band The Senders will perform at the barn dance at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown on Saturday, May 31, from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. The band features music from the 50s and 60s, including songs by the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and various Do-Wop groups. Food, wine, and beer will be available.

A planned power outage is scheduled for Saturday, affecting certain Clearwater Power customers. This outage will impact customers in the Uniontown and Genesee areas, as well as those to the south along the state line. The top of Lewiston Hill and the Port of Wilma will also experience a power interruption.

The Whitman County Humane Society has reported that they have exceeded their $3,000 fundraising goal for the Kitten Shower campaign, raising a total of $9,800 with three days remaining. A local resident contributed $5,000, which will assist in covering kitten vaccinations and spay/neuter procedures for the new arrivals.

The Pullman School Board discussed the proposal for an assistant superintendent during their meeting on Wednesday night. Principal Ryan Mulvey of West Valley High School in Spokane was recommended for the position by Pullman Schools administrators last week, contingent upon school board approval. A Pullman man reported accidentally discharging a firearm inside his apartment on College Hill. The incident occurred late Tuesday afternoon at his residence on NE Terre View Drive. According to police, the man was using inert training ammunition at the time. No injuries were reported.

Miscommunication regarding the plans for a new highway junction on the North end of Colfax has resulted in a delay of the project. The transportation package approved by the Washington Legislature includes a provision that postpones the U.S. Highway 195 and State Route 26 interchange project.
