Washington State University has introduced rapid testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) for its students. As announced in a recent post on the WSU website, Cougar Health Services has implemented a new rapid testing machine specifically for chlamydia and gonorrhea. Previously, students had to wait up to three days to receive their test results.
The White Pine Fire has been reported at approximately 1,000 acres, with federal officials currently working towards increasing containment. Located in North Latah County, the fire has remained at 10% containment for over a week. The U.S. Forest Service is leading the fire suppression efforts.

The repaving of U.S. Highway 195 near Pullman has resumed following the conclusion of a strike. The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 had initiated the strike on August 12th, which affected various highway construction projects in Eastern Washington. The halted local project was valued at approximately 3.5 million dollars.
