Renovation efforts are underway for the downtown Pullman pedestrian bridge spanning the South Fork of the Palouse River. The Pine Street Plaza footbridge sustained damage during the flood in February, which affected its structural stability. As a result, the bridge became dislodged from its abutments, leading to its closure.

A Pullman Police Detective and two staff members from the Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office have received recognition for their contributions to the investigation and prosecution of sexual assault cases. The acknowledgments were presented by Whitman County Prosecutor Denis Tracy during a meeting of the sexual assault task force in Pullman.

The Pullman School Board has reached an agreement to sell the aquatic and fitness center to Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories. The Washington Department of Ecology has allocated nearly one million dollars in grants aimed at enhancing the Palouse River watershed. These water quality grants have been designated to the Palouse Conservation District. One of the grants totals close to half a million dollars, which will be utilized for the restoration of vegetation in the area.

After many years of planning and legal processes, the new segment of U.S. Highway 95 south of Moscow is set to open to traffic. The Idaho Transportation Department has announced that a significant portion of this new highway section will be accessible to drivers starting this afternoon.
