Candidate filing for small tax district seats in Idaho will begin on Monday, with numerous local positions available for candidates. Mayoral elections are scheduled in Moscow and Kendrick, with Moscow Mayor Art Bettge not seeking re-election. Three City Council seats in Moscow, currently held by Hailey Lewis, Julia Parker, and Gina Taruscio, are also up for election, along with school board positions held by Ken Faunce and Brian Kennedy.
In Latah County, several towns are looking for candidates: Bovill needs city council and fire district candidates; Deary requires candidates for city council and recreation district; Genesee is seeking individuals for the recreation district and school board; Juliaetta has openings for city council and recreation district; Kendrick has city council and school board positions available; the Moscow rural fire district and cemetery board also need candidates. Potlatch has two city council seats on the ballot, while Troy is looking for candidates for its school board, city council, and cemetery district. Additionally, candidates are needed for the Viola cemetery board and the Whitepine school board in Deary.
The Latah County Auditor has indicated that the City of Onaway may have seats available for election, although no information has been received regarding those potential races.
Candidate filing will be conducted through the auditor’s office in Moscow and will run for two weeks, concluding on Friday, August 29th at 5:00 PM.
