During Tuesday’s vote by mail general election, voters in Whitman County participated in several contested races for small taxing district positions. In the race for commissioner of Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics in Colfax, Kathy Wride has received 57% of the vote, leading the contest. Meanwhile, Vanessa Moore is leading her respective race.

Deena Bayoumi and Stephanie Horn have been elected to the Pullman School Board. Bayoumi is currently in the lead for an open trustee seat with 60% of the vote, while Horn is leading for another open seat with 66% of the vote. The Whitman County Auditor’s Office has provided the election results.

Chad Whetzel, who was appointed as Whitman County Commissioner, currently holds a lead in the election with approximately 53% of the votes, ahead of fellow Republican Cody Finch by about 500 votes, according to the tally reported Tuesday night. Whetzel took over the commissioner’s position last winter after the retirement of Michael Largent.

Moscow City Council will welcome three new members starting in January. Evan Holmes, Sage McCetich, and Scott Sumner secured seats on the council following the recent election. The election featured eight candidates competing for three available seats. Holmes received the highest percentage of votes at 20%, followed closely by McCetich with 19%.

The initial ballot count from Tuesday night indicates that most small taxing district levies in Whitman County have received majority support. However, the Farmington street levy, the LaCrosse Parks and Recreation District levy, and the St. John Parks and Recreation District levy are not passing.

Hailey Lewis has been elected as the next mayor of Moscow, receiving 70% of the votes in the recent general election against Alex Simon. She succeeds Mayor Art Bettge, who chose not to seek re-election this fall.

During Tuesday’s general election in Latah County, various contested races for small taxing districts were held. Brian Kennedy was elected to the Moscow School Board. Daniel Cochrane and Eric Sutton secured positions on the Deary City Council. In Juliaetta, Eric McDowell and Stephanie Tackett were elected to four-year terms.

Voters in the Idaho school districts of Genesee, Kendrick, and Troy made their decisions in Tuesday’s general election regarding school levies. All three levies received approval.

Roseanne Norris has been elected as the mayor following the Kendrick mayoral race, securing 67% of the votes against Mike Towne.
