St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse junior basketball player Bear Brewer has been recognized as a Washington State high school Athlete of the Week following his impressive performance in a recent game, where he scored 48 points, setting a new school record. In addition to his scoring, Brewer recorded 12 steals and 8 assists in the Eagles’ victory.
The Colfax Library is hosting a story time focused on tooth care for local preschoolers and their families on Thursday, February 6. The event, called Tooth Time Storytime, will begin at 10 am and will include guest hygienist Mickey from CHAS Health Dental, who will share stories and offer tooth care tips.
The Palouse Conservation District has secured substantial funding for projects aimed at improving the Palouse River watershed in Whitman County. These grants, totaling nearly one million dollars, have been provided by the Washington State Department of Ecology. A significant portion of this funding will be allocated for riparian improvements in the area.

The public workshops scheduled for next week in Pullman and Colfax to discuss the new FEMA flood map for Whitman County have been canceled. The Whitman County Commissioners have received notice from FEMA regarding the cancellation, which is attributed to a travel restriction issued by the Department of Homeland Security.
