A health alert has been issued in Pullman after a bat found in the area tested positive for rabies. This is the first reported case of a rabid bat in Whitman County this year. The public health department is advising individuals who have had direct contact with a bat in Pullman to take appropriate precautions.
A military aircraft flyover will occur during Saturday’s Apple Cup football game in Pullman. Washington State University informed the campus community of the flyover through an online announcement on Friday. The flyover is scheduled for 4:20 PM on Saturday, prior to the game between the Cougars and the University of Washington at Martin Stadium.
The Idaho Foodbank is scheduled to distribute meals at the Latah County Fairgrounds in Moscow on September 22. Volunteers will begin distributing food boxes at 10:00 am and will continue until all boxes are distributed. The food distribution will include fresh produce, frozen meats, dairy, and dry goods.
Steptoe Butte, located north of Colfax, is scheduled to reopen late next month after being closed for most of the year due to damage from a flood in February. The Washington State Parks Department had already planned to close the park from late May until October.

The Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of its marquee restoration project on Sunday, September 21, at 7:00 pm on Main Street in Moscow.
