The Palouse Volunteer Fire Department is seeking new members as wildfire season approaches. The department is looking for volunteers for firefighting and EMS roles. Annually, the Palouse volunteers respond to approximately 50 calls. A mini academy will be held this spring for interested individuals. Volunteers are required to attend a minimum of 18 training sessions.
Camping at Kamiak Butte County Park, located north of Pullman, is available this weekend before the campground closes for several weeks due to necessary repairs on the water system.
