A 33-year-old man from Pullman, Lane Taylor Hunting Smith, is facing multiple felony charges, including one count of 1st degree child rape, after being arrested by Pullman Police. The charges arose following a report that Smith allegedly raped a young girl on several occasions. After interviewing the victim, the Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office filed three additional counts of child rape and one count of child molestation against Smith, citing video evidence obtained from his phone. During his arraignment in Whitman County Superior Court, Smith pleaded not guilty to all five charges. If convicted, he could potentially face a life sentence. Smith denied the allegations at the time of his arrest and is currently being held in the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office Jail on a $500,000 bond, with a court date scheduled for March.
