The Latah County Historical Society is hosting an event titled “Suds with a Scholar” on Thursday, September 4th, at 6:30 p.m. at Shattuck West in Moscow.
Dr. Markie McBrayer, an associate professor of political science at the University of Idaho, will deliver a presentation on “The State of Local Democracy in Latah County.” The discussion will cover topics such as voter turnout, election accessibility, nonpartisan elections, and the influence of local news on civic engagement in Moscow and Latah County.
This event aligns with the Smithsonian traveling exhibit “Voices and Votes: Democracy in America,” which is on display at the University of Idaho Library until October 3rd. The exhibit is part of the Museum on Main Street initiative, a partnership between the Smithsonian Institution and state humanities councils.
Attendance is free and open to the public, and food and drinks will be available for purchase. Shattuck West is situated at 630 N Almon St, Suite 130, in Moscow.
