The reconstruction of downtown Pullman has entered its second year as of Monday. The contractor is completing remaining tasks from last year’s rebuild of Main Street, with crews resuming work after the winter shutdown. Drivers should expect lane and parking closures on Main and Paradise Streets, although one lane of traffic will remain open, potentially causing brief delays due to flagging. This wrap-up work on the downtown Pullman reconstruction is set to continue for two weeks.

Initially, the project was scheduled for a four-month duration last summer, but the timeline extended to eight months. Main Street was closed to traffic for over seven months during this period. The work involved rebuilding utilities, Main Street, and installing new sidewalks, which has fallen behind schedule and exceeded the budget significantly.

The City of Pullman is financing most of the project using federal government COVID relief funds, with the total cost currently exceeding 12 million dollars.
