Dozens of seats governing small tax districts around Whitman County did not receive any candidates during the recent filing period.

A special candidate filing for these positions will begin on July 30th. In Tekoa, candidates are sought for the hospital district. School board seats are available in Tekoa, Colfax, and Rosalia. Town and city council positions are open in Endicott, Farmington, LaCrosse, Lamont, Malden, and Uniontown. Volunteer fire district commissioner roles are open in Tekoa, Garfield, Palouse, Lamont, Endicott, and LaCrosse. Parks and recreation district board vacancies exist in LaCrosse, Rosalia, Tekoa, and Endicott. The Steptoe sewer district is also looking for a commissioner. Cemetery boards need candidates in Oakesdale, Garfield, St. John, Endicott, Thornton, Colfax, and Winona.
