The University of Idaho has announced that Leslie Edgar will be the new J.R. Simplot Endowed Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Edgar joins the university from Washington State University, where she serves as the associate dean of research for the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Sciences and the director of the Agricultural Research Center.

Provost and Executive Vice President Torrey Lawrence noted Edgar’s extensive experience at land-grant institutions, her understanding of research and teaching, and her leadership roles at both department and college levels.

An Idaho native, Edgar holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science, a master’s degree in agricultural systems, technology, and education, and a doctorate in agricultural leadership, education, and communication.

Edgar expressed her commitment to leading the college and emphasized the role of the University of Idaho as a land-grant institution in driving innovation and preparing future agricultural leaders.
