The final phase of the Pine Street Pedestrian Bridge reset in downtown Pullman is scheduled for Wednesday.
City crews will reinforce the riverbank beneath the bridge with large rocks. During this work, the bridge, plaza, and Riverwalk on the north side will be closed. Additionally, there may be some traffic delays on Main and Pine Streets near the plaza early Wednesday morning as crews transport the necessary heavy equipment.
The footbridge over the South Fork of the Palouse River was displaced from its footings during the February flood, which tested the bridge’s design for the first time since its installation 20 years ago. City officials have indicated that plans are being developed to address the identified design flaw in the future. Last week, Wasankari Construction from Moscow successfully reset the bridge onto its abutments, which had been closed since the flood.
